Microsoft a anuntat un nou update pentru Xbox 360 pe care il promoveaza sub sloganul “A inceput revolutia din living room”. Update-ul permite utilizatorului Kinect-ului sa controleze prin voce o larga paleta de servicii multimedia. Microsoft incearca, prin noul update, sa ia fata Apple si Google care pregatesc lansarea, in 2012, a primelor lor produse integrate multimedia.
Update-ul Xbox 360 ofera accesul la o serie intreaga de servicii contracost precum Netflix, Hulu Plus, sau EPIX si alte peste 30 de surse video precum Verizon FiOS TV si Vudu.
”O noua era in entertainment incepe odata cu concentrarea jocurilor, filmelor, TV show-urilor, muzicii si sportului intr-un singur loc”, a declarat Don Mattrick, presedintele Interactive Entertainment Business, divizia Microsoft.

Apple TV va folosi SIRI
Si Apple pregateste o oferta similiara. Daca Microsoft spera ca prin Xbox Kinect sa aiba acces la toate televizoarele de pe piata, Apple ar urma sa lanseze, anul viitor, un produs integrat – televizor si soft TV.
Noul Apple TV ar urma sa fie controlat tot prin apelare vocala, cu ajutorul unei versiuni speciale a programului SIRI, disponibil in prezent pe telefoanele iPhone 4S.
Practic, prin voce vom putea astfel schimba canalele, seta luminozitatea, sonorul, culorile si vom putea programa TV-ul sa inregistreze “on cloud” filmele, serialele si celelalte productii favorite.
Oferta va include televizorul Apple, ce va utiliza un display Sharp, si o noua varianta de soft a pachetului Apple TV.

Google TV se lanseaza in 2012
Microsoft va mai avea un rival de temut pe piata multimedia. Google pregateste, de asemenea, noua generatie a platformei TV. Oficialii Google au prezentat, recent, in cadrul unei intalniri cu dezvoltatorii de aplicatii Android primele detalii ale viitoarei platforme Google TV.
Noua platforma se va baza pe Android 4.0, urmand sa ofere o interfata simpla si atractiva, in genul celei prezente pe gadgeturile cu acest sistem de operare. Utilizatorii Google TV vor avea la dispozitie, pe langa tastaturile deja cunoscute, de la Logitech si Sony, posibilitatea de a controla experienta multi-media cu ajutorul telefonului mobil.
Google TV va oferi o gama larga de produse, de la canalele clasice de televiziune in sistem HD, la internet, jocuri si interactivitate online. Vom putea astfel, in acelasi timp, sa vedem un film, sa cautam ceva pe google, sa vedem informatiile de pe bursa sau cele din sport, sa rezervam bilete la un spectacol sau sa cumparam ceva online si sa stam de vorba cu prietenii pe chat. O “revolutie” multimedia
Potrivit specialistilor, daca noile produse Xbox, Apple TV si Google TV vor rula la nivelul asteptarilor, ar putea avea acelasi impact precum a avut iPad-ul in piata calculatoarelor. Continutul multimedia (web,tv,social media, games etc.) va forta, practic, producatorii de televizoare sa lanseze, in viitor, numai aparate Internet-enabled.
Pe de alta parte, dezvoltarea platformelor multimedia ar putea schimba, din multe puncte de vedere, internetul. Site-urile web vor fi nevoite sa dezvolte continut video adaptat consumului pe TV.
Platformele multimedia, in genul Kinect, Apple TV si Google TV, ar putea aduce schimbari semnificative si pe piata televiziunii prin cablu, in conditiile in care, daca vor reusi sa ofere continutul multimedia pe care si-l propun, astfel de gadgeturi ar putea face inutile setbox-urile firmelor de cablu TV, care gestioneaza o oferta limitata (TV&internet).
