Jocul Diablo III a inregistrat vanzari de 3,5 milioane de exemplare in primele 24 de ore de la lansarea oficiala, pe 15 mai, devenind astazi game-ul cu cel mai rapid ritm de vanzari din istorie.
Blizzard, producatorul jocului, estimeaza ca, in acest ritm, jocul va aduna 6,3 milioane de exemplare in prima saptamana.
“Suntem foarte incantati de faptul ca atat de multi jucatori din intreaga lume si-au cumparat Diablo III. Este, de departe, cel mai bun joc al noastru”, a declarat Mike Morhaime, CEO Blizzard Entertainment.

Diablo III continua celebra seriei Diablo I si II. La fel ca si primele, Diablo III este un joc de actiune de tip RPG cu tematica „dark fantasy” in stil hack and slash și dungeon roaming.
Jocul a fost anunțat prima oara pe 28 iunie 2008 la Blizzard’s World Wide Invitational (Paris, Franța).
Acțiunea jocului are loc in Sanctuary, fantastica lume intunecata din seria Diablo. Aceasta lume a fost salvata cu douazeci de ani in urma de cațiva eroi fara nume in Diablo II.
Razboinici care au supraviețuit atacului armatelor Burning Hells au innebunit datorita numeroaselor chinuri pe care le-au suferit. IRVINE, Calif.–(EON: Enhanced Online News)–Blizzard Entertainment, Inc. today announced that as of the first 24 hours of Diablo® III’s release, more than 3.5 million copies had been sold, setting the new all-time record for fastest-selling PC game.* That number does not include the more than 1.2 million players who received Diablo III as part of signing up for the World of Warcraft® Annual Pass promotion. Altogether, more than 4.7 million gamers around the world were poised to storm Sanctuary on day 1 of Diablo III’s release — representing the biggest PC-game launch in history.
As of the first week of the game’s availability, that number had already grown to more than 6.3 million.* The above figures also do not include players in Korean Internet game rooms, where Diablo III has become the top-played game, achieving a record share of more than 39% as of May 22.†

Diablo III is available for Windows® XP/Windows Vista®/Windows® 7 and Macintosh® at a suggested price of $59.99 USD for both the retail DVD-ROM version and the digital version sold directly from Blizzard. The game has received a Mature rating from the ESRB.
Players in the Latin American countries listed above and inRussiawill be able to purchase Diablo III at local retail locations starting June 7. Digital availability via http://www.diablo3.com for the Russian version of the game will also begin June 7.
